Email addresses are one of the most valuable assets a business can have. There’s not a whole lot of “owned” data you can obtain in life, especially if social media is one of your main marketing channels, because the social media network will own that.
So collecting emails mean you can target specifically to your audience.
20-30% of your sales should come from email marketing. If you can set up emails to send out automatically, it’s virtually effortless!
Because people opt IN, it means they’re warm leads. They’ve signed up and provided you with their details because they want to hear from you and that makes the sale a little easier.
So how can you grow your list to turn warm leads into purchasers?
👉 Lead magnets – a piece of content that people will want to sign up to to access. Examples on my site are a video to tell you the secrets of building a successful business, a website audit template and ideal client worksheet. I get about 20 signups a day through these at the moment with my Facebook Ad campaigns.
👉 A signup form on your website. A static signup form on your header or footer means it’s on every page.
👉 A signup popup on your website. This is much more visible as it will show to everyone with them having to look for it. But it can also be a bit annoying!
👉 A discount or offer that can be promoted on your website in the popup or on social media. It’s best for this to go through to a signup page/form though, so you don’t have to manually input data.
👉 An automation between purchasers and your email list, so you can send follow up emails and grow loyalty. Information will be sent straight to your database, ready for remarketing.
👉 If you go to shows or in-person events (obvs not at the moment), use an iPad or other tablet to collect data from those who express an interest in your business. This is much easier than asking them to fill in a form because it syncs automatically.
Remember, you legally must have an opt in tick box that explains what people are signing up to and a privacy policy that explains how you use that data.
